The ideal range for total alkalinity in pool water is 80 to 120 ppm. This range is recommended by the National Plasterers Council and is the most widely accepted standard by pool professionals. Option B is too low and can lead to corrosion and etching of the pool surfaces. Option C is also too low and can result in a more acidic pool which can irritate swimmers' skin and eyes. Option D is too high and can cause cloudy and dull pool water.
